Jochen Gerz

“The internationally renowned German artist Jochen Gerz (* 1940 in Berlin) has, with his works in public space, radically altered the relationship between art and viewer. His work transcends social boundaries, and creates new constituencies since it relies on public authorship. The individual is no longer just part of the public but is rather made part of the art. Gerz’ work anticipates the aesthetics of a democracy in search of its cultural dimension.”

Parking Day

Been meaning to do this for some time. This is largely a reminder to myself to get it done. I feel 2015 is going to be quite exciting one way or another.

Bus talk

Had pleasant meeting today with Gill Williamson, an ex-WSA student. She lives in Reading and is very keen to get some sort of communal artist venue off the ground. So we talked strategies and networking for a while.

The interesting part though was when she mentioned she’s been thinking that she needs a bus. An art bus. Most likely, an old library bus. Her collaborative public engaging art ideas are poking those possibilities with a view to see what arises.  Quite serendipitous really, as I’ll be collecting our new ex-library artbus in little over a week. I foresee more talks with Gill…
